Mrs. Ledgerwood’s freshman Creative Writing class wrote and illustrated ABC books and read them to Mrs. Giles’s preschoolers. Book topics included musicians, songs, movies, TV shows, football teams, cars, sheep, cows, games, and various types of animals. The preschoolers were excellent listeners, and the budding authors appreciated the audience's attentiveness. #UnitedAsOne #StrongerTogether

📣Meet the GRHS Student Council Candidates📣 Alice Tullis – Running for Student Council President I am a member of the Bowling and Quiz Bowl teams. I also participate in the band and spring play. I am also currently a member of Student Council as a representative for Speech. My major strengths are my creativity and the ability to get along with a variety of different people. I think this will help me bring a lot of creative ideas to improve the school. I am very comfortable speaking in front of large groups so I would have no trouble speaking at any event that Student Council puts on. My major weakness would be that I sometimes focus on extracurricular activities over my homework. I have been a representative on Student Council and currently am the secretary. I was vice president for both Band and the Junior Class. I have many ideas on how to make GRHS a more engaging place to learn and be. I have great ideas for community service projects. I am a good listener and would be able to take other’s ideas into consideration. I am comfortable giving up ideas if others have better ideas and I am also always willing to find a compromise between ideas to make more people happy. I would make a good liaison between the staff and students. I am respectful, understanding and try to be kind to all of my peers. I also have many creative, and realistic, ideas of how to make GRHS even better. I would like to make GRHS a more positive and engaging place to go to school. Our student sections aren’t great, partially because people are busy with their own activities, and also because people don’t know the cheers. Pep rallies can be better and I have ideas to help give students things to look forward to besides Homecoming and Prom. Claire Wellnitz – Running for Student Council Vice President I am a member of One Acts, Quiz Bowl, Track, Speech and Cheerleading. I also was a part of the Spring Play cast and a member of the choir and a member of Medical Explorers. Outside of school, I am involved in dance, confirmation class and I help at bible school. Some of my strengths that will help me in being Student Council Vice President are that I am easy to approach, always willing to listen, kind and non-judgmental. I also have no trouble with public speaking. I would say that my weaknesses are being quiet and shy, but I am trying to overcome those to help make me a strong leader. I have held other leadership positions both in and out of school. I am currently a student council representative and president of the sophomore class, vice president of choir and I have been a captain of both dance and cheer. I am a leader within my church as well. I help lead songs as well as help with our Vacation Bible School and Religious Ed classes. I feel like I am a good role model and leader because I am passionate about the activities that I love. I put a lot of hard work and dedication towards my grades and activities and grades because I want to succeed. I believe I can bring my positive attitude and hardworking spirit to GRHS. Our time in high school goes so fast, we need to make it positive and have fun. I would ask others their ideas and listen to them. I would make sure we work together and bring the ideas to the president. One change I would like to see is a new track or a theater. Our track is in terrible shape and a new one would not only make it safer for our athletes, but we could also host some track meets. A theater would mean that our students get to practice and have a place in our school instead of having to go to the City Auditorium or the theater in Rushville. #UnitedAsOne #StrongerTogether

📣Meet the GRHS Student Council Candidates📣 Maddox Leeper – Running for Student Council President I am a member of the football and basketball teams. I am also a member of the GR Club and I participate in FFA. I think a major strength for me is being able to listen very well. I can also provide new ideas or help improve old ideas. I am always on time and show up to work. I don’t get in trouble and I get along with every teacher and student well. I think I can contribute to Student Council by listening to what my peers want and then putting their wants into my actions. I have been captain of both the football and basketball teams. I always try and keep people doing the right thing. If I disagree with someone’s idea, I would ask them how they would approach the situation, compare it to how I would and build ideas together that benefit all. I know I am a good leader. I have a great track record in the school and community. I believe I am a guy the students can look up to and follow. The most important change to GRHS to me would be to increase student involvement in the school. We need to get more kids to participate in activities and build more school spirit. Emma Martins – Running for Student Council Vice President I am a member of the volleyball team and Medical Explorers. I have also done club volleyball outside of school. I believe that my strengths are being honest, a hard worker, dependable and compassionate. I think these will help me because I can really listen to people and get things done. I think I can be a good leader because I maintain good grades and always strive to be the best version of myself. I work long hours at the nursing home after school and try to not complain. I believe this job, along with my work with youth volleyball will help me to represent the student body well. I am easy to get along with, work well with students and teachers and I love to take care of people in need. I really enjoy listening to others ideas and I think it is great when people have different ideas and opinions. I want people to enjoy coming to school. I would like to help this by planning more fun things that don’t take up educational time but still something the students can look forward to. I would also like to see others be more compassionate within the school.
