Attention GRMS Parents and Students, the final day of school, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, we will be having an Academic Award Ceremony beginning at 10:15 AM in the GRMS Gym. Parents and grandparents are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please contact the Gordon-Rushville Middle School at 308-327-2682.

📣Meet the GRHS Student Council Candidates📣
James Tullis – Running for Student Council President
I am a proud member of the Bowling, One Act and Quiz Bowl teams. I also participate in the band and spring play. Outside of school, I am currently working at the After School Program.
I feel that I have a great work ethic and I am responsible in my school work. I feel that these strengths will help me to make GRHS a better place to go to school. I can finish whatever job that needs to be done and do it with all of my effort. I also always try to help others that need anything. However, sometimes I can procrastinate a little, but I always manage to get things done and be where I am needed. I am prepared to take on the responsibilities of Student Council President and will represent the student body well.
I have been a representative on Student Council for various groups in the past. Being a member of Student Council and working at the After School Program has given me a great model of what it means to be a leader.
I’m very open minded when it comes to ideas, so I’ll definitely listen to what anyone has to say. I’ll explain why I feel an idea is best, but if someone still doesn’t agree then we can form a compromise to express both ideas.
The most important change to GRHS to me would be to raise school spirit and help all students feel like they belong and have a place in our school. I believe our pep rallies can be better to include more people. Overall, school spirit needs to be better.
Amara Funk – Running for Student Council Vice President
I am a member of One Acts, Quiz Bowl and Cheerleading. I also was a part of the Spring Play cast and was chosen to represent GRHS in Honor Choirs.
My greatest strength is that I really don’t like procrastination and I always get my work done on time or early. That should help me organize all the Student Council events and make sure everything is done on time. I do however like to talk, and that will get me a little distracted if I let it.
I have been cheer captain and I believe that my positive attitude has allowed me to show that I am good in tough positions and good at making decisions. When listening to others, I feel that I am really good at listening. If I degree, I will disagree with kindness and if I agree, I agree happily. I love to be kind and I don’t feel good in a day if I have not been able to do something nice for someone. Sometimes it might be picking something up for someone or simply cheering someone up, whatever it is, I always enjoy doing it.
I believe my bubbly, outgoing spirit will help me speak for the extra curriculars I am involved in. I also have great connections through the entire school because of all the activities I am involved with.
I truly believe that James and I can make a difference in our school. We can positively represent out school and I feel like we can accurately represent the entire student body.

Mrs. Ledgerwood’s freshman Creative Writing class wrote and illustrated ABC books and read them to Mrs. Giles’s preschoolers. Book topics included musicians, songs, movies, tv shows, football teams, cars, sheep, cows, games, and various types of animals. The preschoolers were excellent listeners and the budding authors appreciated the attentive audience.
