Becoming a Substitute Teacher

Interested in Becoming a Substitute Teacher?  

  • To become a certified local substitute teacher in the state of Nebraska, all you need is 60 hours of college credit (in any area), one course in education (A professional education course is any course with an education prefix or anything dealing with children, schools or education)  and one hour of human relations (HR) training. 

  • Certificates are valid for three years.  

    • If you have not been a resident of the state of Nebraska for the past five years, you will need to complete a fingerprint card.
