GRPS Digital Citizenship Presentation

On Wednesday, October 24th, Gordon-Rushville Public Schools will be hosting Mr. Bobby Truhe, a partner at KSB School Law, P.C., L.L.O.  Mr. Truhe will be speaking to students in grades 5-12 regarding Digital Citizenship. Digital Citizenship involves developing skills and knowledge to effectively and safely use the Internet and other digital technology, especially in order to participate responsibly in social and civic activities.  Students will be informed of the norms of appropriate and responsible technology use, and how to practice safe behaviors when communicating and interacting with others digitally (e.g. safe information to share, utilizing appropriate sites, online dangers). As well as the use of appropriate digital tools (e.g., social media, online collaborative tools, apps, etc.) for such uses as to communicate with others for conveying information, gathering opinions, and solving problems. The legal ramifications of using social media and texting will also be discussed. Mr. Truhe has presented to numerous schools throughout the state and is considered an authority on Digital Citizenship. Interested parents or guardians are welcome to attend either presentation. The 9th-12th presentation will be from 12:30-1:30 at the high school and the 5th-8th-grade presentation will be held at the middle school from 2:00-3:00 pm. Please contact the Principal’s Office at the high school 282-0894 or middle school 327-2491, if you will be attending to allow us to plan appropriately.
